Programs & Services
Open Gates has developed a scaffolding of supportive services. All programs support high-need individuals, with an intentional focus on low-income BIPOC communities and individuals facing homelessness—those greatest affected by the impacts of poverty. We currently have a focus on Elizabeth, New Jersey and seek to grow our foothold in the community we know deeply.
1. Job Support & Training
Programs, workshops, and seminars that help participants learn and adjust to the daily workspace routine in order to develop the skills necessary to function successfully within their jobs and in the community. Employment services include job orientation support, resume, cover letter, and reference(s) building as well as training on how to manage workplace disputes.

2. Critical Item Distribution
The need for social distancing and institutional closures due to COVID-19 has created gaps in critical services (such as free food service. We operate weekly food pantries, clothing and school supply giveaways, and a wide variety of critical item distribution initiatives (including personal items such as sanitary and PPE).
